Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with passing score on ParaPro Exam.
• 60 credit hours or an Associate's degree from an accredited institution.
• Preferred: Associate’s degree.
• One year of related experience preferred.
• Relevant experience or education may substitute minimum qualifications.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA and privacy laws.
• Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; organizational and management skills.
• Knowledge of industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications.
• Ability to professionally respond to customer needs and requests for service.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the instructional process with students individually or in small groups, under direct supervision of an instructional staff member.
• Assist in the preparation, organization, and use of instructional aids, materials, and technology as directed.
• Work with the teacher to reinforce positive learning and behavior patterns among students.
• Assist students in developing study skills and achieving instructional objectives.
• Support parental involvement activities.
• Demonstrate understanding and respect for each student’s culture and interests.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy laws and policies.
• Perform related clerical and recordkeeping duties as directed.
• Adhere to safety procedures.
• Provide support in computer labs, library/media centers, or other learning facilities as appropriate.
• Assist in implementation of a student’s IEP.
• Act as translator if able and appropriate.
• Monitor student behavior/activity in cafeteria and campus locations with staff support.
• Perform Medicaid administrative claims activities as directed per SDAC guidance.
