Job summary

Clayton County Public Schools' Riverdale Early Learning Center seeks an Instructional Specialist to support high-quality teaching across early learning classrooms, monitor curriculum fidelity, and design professional learning for teachers and paraprofessionals.

You will analyze data, develop parent workshops, collaborate with district staff, and report to the Principal. Requires a Master’s in ECE Curriculum & Instruction, 5+ years in early learning, GaPSC Level 5, and a coaching endorsement.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education Curriculum and Instruction or closely related field.
  • Minimum of five years in early learning or elementary education with coaching/professional learning experience.
  • GaPSC teaching certification at Level 5 or higher in Elementary Education (P–5) or related field; coaching endorsement required or within 2 years.
  • Ability to analyze data, provide feedback, and design targeted professional learning.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of Early Learning leadership, the Instructional Specialist supports high-quality teaching and learning across early learning classrooms. The specialist monitors and supports curriculum implementation with fidelity in 100% of classrooms; provides job-embedded instructional support in all content areas; designs and facilitates professional learning for teachers and paraprofessionals; and develops parent and family workshops and resources that strengthen learning at home. The position uses observation, feedback, and data to build staff capacity and improve student outcomes. This position reports to the Principal.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitor and support implementation of the district-adopted early learning curriculum with fidelity across 100% of classrooms. Conduct classroom observations, review implementation evidence, provide actionable feedback, and recommend targeted follow-up support.

Provide job-embedded instructional support in all content areas through coaching, modeling, co-planning, resource development, and follow-up feedback for teachers and paraprofessionals.

Design, coordinate, and facilitate differentiated professional learning for teachers, paraprofessionals, school leaders, and other early learning staff on curriculum, developmentally appropriate practice, assessment, and effective instruction.

Develop and facilitate parent and family workshops, learning resources, and engagement opportunities that help families support children’s academic, social-emotional, and developmental growth.

Analyze student and implementation data; maintain records of support and impact; prepare reports; collaborate with district and school teams; and perform other duties aligned to Early Learning priorities.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university required; in Early Childhood Education Curriculum andInstruction, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field preferred.

Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in early learning or elementary education. Experience with instructional coaching, curriculum implementation, professional learning, family engagement, and data-informed improvement is preferred.

Actions directly influence curriculum fidelity, educator and paraprofessional capacity, family engagement, program quality, and student learning outcomes across the district’s early learning classrooms.

Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) teaching certification at Level 5 or higher in Elementary Education (P–5), or a related field. Coaching or Teaching Support Coaching endorsement is required or must be obtained within the first (2) years of employment. Leadership certification preferred.

Exercises independent judgment when analyzing implementation and student data, prioritizing support, designing professional learning, and recommending improvement actions within district policy and Early Learning expectations.

Requires frequent communication with Early Learning leadership, principals, teachers, paraprofessionals, instructional support staff, and district departments to coordinate services, share feedback, and monitor implementation.

Requires regular communication with parents and families, community partners, vendors, consultants, and other external stakeholders to support workshops, resources, and program goals.

No direct supervisory responsibility. Leads professional learning, projects, workgroups, and collaborative improvement efforts; supports adult learning and accountability for implementation.

Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, virtual meeting and presentation platforms, learning management systems, and district student, assessment, and program data systems.

Responsibility for the Welfare of Others:Constant (Daily) - to exercise the duty of care and protection of the health, safety, security, welfare, well-being, and best interests of the district's various stakeholders.

Work is performed in district offices, schools, and early learning classrooms.Frequent travel among sites is required, with occasional evening parent/family workshops and exposure to typical classroom conditions.

Light physical effort.Frequent sitting, standing, walking, speaking, and use of technology; occasional bouncing and lifting or carrying instructional materials up to 20 pounds.
