Job summary

Cherry Creek Schools in Aurora, CO seeks an Instructional Para Educator to support licensed staff by assisting students with basic curriculum work and reinforcing learning skills. Under supervision, you will prepare materials, monitor activities, and document student progress to help learners succeed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher in preparing materials, administering tests, grading, attendance, and documentation.
• Support students with classroom activities and curriculum delivery for individuals and small groups.
• Monitor student behavior and reinforce appropriate conduct during activities, meals, detentions, and field trips.
• Perform basic clerical tasks for the teacher (typing, filing, data entry, ordering supplies, etc.).
• Support with field trips, fire drills, and other classroom events as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of a licensed staff member, assist students by helping individuals or small groups of students with basic curriculum work, implementing programming, reinforcing learning skills, and reinforcing discipline procedures. Assist classroom teacher by preparing classroom materials, monitoring students, and evaluating and recording student achievement. May include work with behaviorally challenging children.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The subsequent duties outline the fundamental operations of the position and exemplify the nature of the tasks carried out. • 1. Assist classroom teacher in preparing materials, administering tests, grading, attendance, etc. Assist with paperwork and documentation as needed. Daily 30%
• 2. Assist students with classroom activities. Assist with curriculum delivery to both individuals and small groups to ensure mastering of subjects. Daily 30%
• 3. Monitor students and reinforce appropriate behavior during various activities such as play, lunch, detention, in-school suspension, in the classroom, or on field trips. Daily 20%
• 4. Perform basic clerical work for the classroom teacher, including typing, stapling, filing, duplicating, taking inventory, scheduling repairs and maintenance, data entry, word processing, laminating, ordering supplies, placing phone calls, materials distribution, and light bookkeeping. [Daily, 10%]
• 5. Assist with other classroom events, such as field trips or fire drills, as necessary. Daily 5%

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum prerequisites of formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other criteria that a candidate must fulfill to be considered for a position. • Title I assignments must meet one of the following requirements:
  • Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education; or
  • Obtained an associate’s or higher degree; or
  • Met a rigorous standard of quality, and can demonstrate through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, as appropriate:
    • Reading/language arts, writing, and mathematics; or
    • Reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness
• Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
