McGraw Hill is seeking an Instructional Designer, ELA/SLA for its K-12 literacy programs. This fully remote US role collaborates with content, product, UX, and media teams to create digital curriculum assets.

You’ll design and assemble high-quality content based on product requirements for literacy programs. Requirements include 1–3 years in digital content development and a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Instructional Technology or related field.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years in digital content development including teaching/learning materials.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Instructional Technology/Instructional Design required.
  • Spanish-language materials experience; bilingual a plus; K-5 teaching background helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to early product workstreams under management guidance.
  • Develop digital curriculum assets (videos, eBooks, interactives, simulations).
  • Create storyboards, participate in alpha/beta asset builds, tests, and QA.
  • Lead vendor coordination and manage timelines across projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet product requirements and schedules.
  • Provide informal product training to junior designers and ensure accessibility standards.

McGraw Hill, the leading provider of digital and print educational resources, is looking for an Instructional Designer, ELA/SLAfor our K-12 division literacy programs.

This position is fully remote based in the United States. This is a Project Status Worker (PSW) position with an end date of 8/31/2027. Candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

You will be a valuable member of a collaborative group of Instructional Designers, closely partnering with teams focused on content, product management, UX, and creative media. As part of this team, you will create robust digital tools,curriculumand learning solutions in a variety of formats that are used by millions of educators and students every day. Instructional Designer, ELA/SLA is a digital savvy content and curriculum expert, responsible and accountable for assembling high-quality content based on specific product requirements for theLiteracy programs.

What you will be doing:
  • Contribute to specific early product workstreams, under the direction of management and senior members of the team.
  • Contribute to the Implementation Model, Journey Maps, and course maps. Contribute heavily in regard to the creation of POC’s and prototypes.
  • Through a UBD process, you will design, storyboard, anddevelop digital curriculum assets such as videos, eBooks, interactives, simulations, gamesand virtual labs.
  • Contribute to concept meetings, review manuscript, create storyboards, contribute during alpha and beta builds for digital assets.
  • Provide heavy contributions with digital tools, serving under the leadership of management and senior members of the team.
  • Strong contributions with user testing, serving under the leadership of management and senior members of the team.
  • Provide informal product training to associate instructional designers.
  • Be experts in accessibility with strong contributions to this area throughout the product development process.
  • Strong contributions to the product build process.
  • Manage AD vendors and freelancers writing guidelines, answering questions,schedulingand leading weekly vendor statusmeetings.
  • Leadapproved workflows at all stages and meet all intermediate and final schedules.
  • Contributeon cross-functional teams to ensure that product requirements, project schedules, and product goals are metand on completed on time.
  • Leadduring digital launches with vendors including helping to create templates, trackers, and digital content development guidelines.
  • Identifyand suggest digital solutions for issues that arise during development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members toidentify, test, troubleshoot, define, and follow up on technical bugs and enhancements as they arise in authoring tools and the platform. When necessary, help define requirements for platform and authoring toolenhancements.
  • Work on digital product tasks such as metadata tagging, concept mapping, and digital editing.
  • QA the work of the vendor to ensure it adheres toguidelines.
What you bring:
  • 1 - 3years’ experienceworking in digital content development that includes teaching and learning materials.
  • Bachelor’sorMaster’sdegree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or related fieldrequired.
  • Experience working with Spanish-language materials; prior experience as a Spanish, ESL, SLA, or dual-language teacher is a plus. A successful candidate may have previous K-5 teaching experience
  • Bilingual recommended, Spanish desired.
  • Experience managing multiple projects within tight deliverables and budgets.
  • Strong ability to communicate.
  • Some experience with authoring tools, learning management systems, and content management systems.
  • Some ability to create and visualize animated and interactive content.

The pay range for this position is between $52,000-$65,000 annually. However, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
