Job summary

Texas A&M University in College Station seeks an Instructional Designer II to lead and support the development of classroom, hybrid, or online courses for the LAUP department. You will plan, develop, and deliver training for faculty and staff in instructional design, pedagogy, and best practices, and lead project work.

The role offers hybrid/remote flexibility aligned with grant funds. Requires a Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience; a Master’s in Educational Technology is preferred.

• Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
• Experience with AI in education, accessibility, media production.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee LAUP course design and development.
• Administer and maintain online development courses.
• Coordinate materials with course instructor, instructional design team, and multimedia team. Designs online modules.
• Lead course review process.
• Collaborate with LAUP instructors and SMEs to design and develop online, blended courses.
• Consult and support faculty and/or staff with instructional design.
• Train faculty and staff on instructional strategies and course design.
• Identify and recommend instructional technologies and trends.

A Glimpse of the Job

The Instructional Designer II leads and supports the development of classroom, hybrid, or online courses for the Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning (LAUP). The position plans, develops, and delivers training and development for faculty and/or staff in areas of instructional design, pedagogy, and best practices. It also leads project work. This position may be subject to availability of grant and contract funds.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Two years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Education, Educational Technology and Instructional Design or related field.

A well-qualified candidate will have the following:

• Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

• Knowledge of online course design principles and practices.

• Knowledge of Learning Management Systems and instructional technologies.

Essential Duties/Tasks

Course Design

• Leads and oversees course design and development projects in LAUP.

• Administers and maintains online development courses/programs/resources.

• Plans and coordinates materials with course instructor, instructional design team, and multimedia team. Designs online modules.

• Leads course review process.

Collaboration

• Collaborates with LAUP instructors and subject matter experts (SMEs) to design and develop online, blended, and web-enhanced courses and programs.

• Consults and supports faculty and/or staff with instructional design.

• Leads faculty and/or staff through the design process and makes key recommendations for design.

Presentations and training

• Plans, develops, trains, and delivers faculty and/or staff on instructional strategies and course design.

Recommendations

• Identifies and recommends the use of instructional strategies, technologies, and applications. Researches and reviews emerging instructional design innovations and trends.
