Job summary

Prison Fellowship is seeking a remote Instructional Designer in the United States to develop learning experiences for volunteers, staff, and program participants. You will analyze goals, design effective strategies, and create engaging eLearning, ILT materials, and job aids.

  • Solid background in adult education, curriculum design, instructional technology, and instructional design; facilitation skills preferred
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office productivity tools, project management tools, and storyboarding; experience using Articulate Rise desired
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as client-facing customer service skills

Responsibilities

  • Analyze business goals, performance gaps, and learner needs to determine the right learning or performance support solution
  • Translate ambiguous requirements into effective instructional strategies and measurable objectives
  • Design and develop learning experiences for volunteers, program participants, and Prison Fellowship staff
  • Create engaging eLearning, instructor-led materials, virtual training, and job aids
  • Write and refine clear course content, scripts, scenarios, and assessments for instructional effectiveness
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and SMEs to uncover needs and communicate design rationale
  • Coordinate with editorial, video, graphic design and marketing teams to deliver cohesive assets
  • Partner with project managers to define scope, tasks, and timelines
  • Provide in-person or virtual facilitation and admin LMS duties

What we are looking for:

A creative and team-focused Instructional Designerwho is in agreement with Prison Fellowship's Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct to develop instructional content and learning experiences for program participants, staff, and volunteers in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will analyze business goals, performance gaps, and learner needs to determine the right learning or performance support solution.

Expectations of this role:
  • Maintain an active relationship with Jesus Christ and supportthe ministry through prayer and actions
  • Analyzebusiness goals, performance gaps, and learner needs to determine the right learning or performance support solution, translate2ambiguous requirements into effective instructional strategies, and definemeasurable learning objectives aligned to desired behaviors and outcomes
  • Designand developlearning experiences for volunteers, program participants (e.g., prisoners, wardens, church partners, and other partner organizations), and Prison Fellowship staff, by creating engaging learning deliverables for eLearning, instructor-led materials, virtual training, and job aids
  • Writeand refineclear, concise course content, scripts, scenarios, and assessments aligned to learning objectives. Effectively self-editand revisefor clarity and instructional effectiveness, while ensuring consistency with organizational style, brand, and messaging
  • Collaborateeffectively with stakeholders and subject matter experts by asking insightful questions to uncover true performance needs, while clearly communicating instructional design rationale, managing expectations, and incorporating feedback
  • Collaboratecross-functionally with editorial, video, graphic design and other marketing partners to consult on, coordinate, and deliver cohesive, high-quality learning assets that align with brand and communication standards
  • Partnerclosely with project managers to help define project scope, tasks, and timelines
  • Provide in-person or virtual facilitation for end-users and/or trainers as needed
  • Serve as an admin of Prison Fellowship learning platforms (e.g., adding new courses and users into the LMS)

Salary at Prison Fellowship is determined by a variety of factors. For this position, the salary range is projected to be between $72,000 and $80,000.
