Job summary

A1 Garage in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an Instructional Designer to design, develop, and maintain high-quality learning solutions that drive performance and workforce readiness. You will partner with subject matter experts, trainers, and operations to translate business needs into effective learning experiences across the organization.

The role reports to the Director of Learning & Organizational Development and focuses on scalable, measurable training across the enterprise, including eLearning,

Qualifications

  • Experience designing learner-centered training using ADDIE or Agile.
  • Excellent written communication and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate business needs into scalable learning solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop engaging, learner-centered training using adult learning principles.
  • Create and maintain blended learning experiences (ILT, virtual, eLearning, job aids, microlearning).
  • Apply instructional design methodologies to ensure learning effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to gather content and validate accuracy.
  • Develop instructional materials using modern tools and ensure brand consistency.
  • Manage multiple projects with timelines and priorities.
  • Maintain LMS/LXP assets and support enterprise deployment.
  • Incorporate feedback and data to improve learning impact.

Job description

The Instructional Designer reports to the Director of Learning & Organizational Development and supports learning initiatives across the entire organization. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality learning solutions that drive performance, consistency, and workforce readiness. The Instructional Designer partners closely with subject matter experts, trainers, and operations to translate business and performance needs into effective, scalable learning experiences that deliver measurable impact.

What You’ll Do
  • Design and develop engaging, learner-centered training using adult learning principles and instructional design best practices
  • Translate organizational, operational, and performance needs into effective learning solutions
  • Create and maintain blended learning experiences, including instructor-led training, virtual learning, eLearning, job aids, and microlearning
  • Apply instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, Agile, Bloom’s Taxonomy) to ensure learning effectiveness
  • Partner with subject matter experts to gather content, validate accuracy, and ensure real-world applicability
  • Develop high-quality instructional materials using modern authoring and design tools
  • Ensure all learning deliverables meet organizational standards for accuracy, consistency, branding, and quality
  • Conduct thorough proofreading, editing, and quality control prior to deployment
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting timelines and priorities
  • Maintain learning assets within LMS/LXP platforms and support enterprise-wide deployment
  • Incorporate feedback and data to continuously improve learning effectiveness
What You’ll Bring

Strong expertise in instructional design, adult learning theory, and learning experience development. Proven ability to design learning aligned with business and performance outcomes. Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to write clear, concise, and grammatically correct content. Exceptional attention to detail, with a demonstrated commitment to accuracy, quality control, and consistency. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines. Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and influencing without authority.

Technical Skills
  • Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise)
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Microsoft Office (advanced)
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Learning Experience Platforms (LXP)
  • SCORM / xAPI standards
  • Video editing tools (e.g., Camtasia, Premiere Pro, or similar)
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508) and emerging learning technologies, including AI-enabled tools
