We are currently looking for an Instructional Designer to join our Training and Development Department in Dallas.
JOB SUMMARY
The Instructional Designer plays a key role in shaping how our teams learn and grow. This position is responsible for creating, updating, and improving training, reference, and performance support resources that align with FreeRange Concepts’ culture and mission. Success in this role requires a creative approach to learning that works effectively in a fast-paced restaurant setting, with a strong focus on delivering online and blended learning. The role reports directly to the Vice President of People and Culture, is based in our Dallas, TX Home Office, and will require limited local travel.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Project Management
- Effectively manages multiple projects at one time, while achieving project goals and meeting deadlines.
- Manages and evaluates project priorities based on business needs and strategies.
- Collaborates with Operations and other cross-functional teams to achieve the best solutions and mutual commitments within a project.
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with Subject Matter Experts.
Design & Development
- Conduct needs assessments to identify skills or knowledge gaps and ensure training is accurate, relevant, and accessible.
- Provides learning solutions and performance improvement guidance for complex cross-functional projects and initiatives.
- Design and develop effective and engaging learning materials, using eLearning authoring tools
- Evaluates the effectiveness of delivered training programs by identifying and assessing learning outcomes and making recommendations for improvements.
- Plans, shoots, and edits simple instructional videos.
- Provides recommendations for continuous improvement based on evaluation data, field and SME feedback, personal observation, and external best practices.
- Utilize and maintain the Learning Management System (LMS), including uploading content, monitoring user activity, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the platform effectively supports training initiatives.

Job Requirements
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Creative thinker with expertise in designing interactive, multimedia-rich, and motivational learning programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; skilled at producing clear, concise training materials.
- Effective collaborator with excellent interpersonal, influence, and listening abilities.
- Highly organized; able to prioritize, multitask, and manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.
- Experienced in partnering with Operations, other departments, and diverse groups across all organizational levels.
- Proficient in rapid development methods and tools to deliver quality results.
- Experience administering and maintaining Learning Management Systems (e.g., Cornerstone, Workday Learning, Moodle, or similar)
- Familiarity with SCORM/xAPI standards and troubleshooting LMS-related technical issues.
- Understand LMS analytics and reporting tools to assess learner engagement and program effectiveness.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- BA or BS Degree in Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, Communications, English, Business, or related discipline. Combinations of certificates and work experience may be considered.
- 3+ years of instructional design experience.
- Proficient in eLearning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise).
- Experience in video creation and editing.
