Job description

Texas A&M Libraries is seeking an Assistant Librarian or an Associate Librarian to join our innovative team focused on advancing information literacy and student success through engaging online learning experiences.

In this role, you'll collaborate with librarians, faculty, and subject matter experts to design and deliver impactful online tutorials and learning resources using tools such as Canvas, Articulate 360, and multimedia technologies. You'll play a key role in developing accessible, evidence-based learning experiences that connect students with library resources, services, and essential research skills.

You'll be empowered with exceptional resources, including the collaboration of a dedicated Instructional Designer and access to a state-of-the-art multimedia studio for creating high-quality learning content. Experience in academic, school, or special libraries is valued, as is a passion for learner-centered design, accessibility, collaboration, and student success.

Opportunities to Contribute
  • Online Learning Development - Participates in the development of the University Libraries’ tutorial program and online learning initiatives using tools such as Texas A&M’s course management systems (Canvas), Articulate 360, and other multimedia tools. Designs, produces, and maintains multimedia instructional content, including video tutorials, interactive modules, infographics, and other digital learning objects. Maintains knowledge of emerging trends in online learning and provides recommendations of new technologies or services to library leadership. Ensures digital learning meets accessibility standards and evidence based-pedagogical best practices. Collaborates with regional and local locations at the University Libraries on access of Library collections and improving virtual learning for distance learners.
  • Collaborations & Partnerships - Participates in unit meetings and interdepartmental activities throughout the Libraries. Collaborates with colleagues on design, delivery, assessment, and promotion of library programs that support information literacy and student success. Participates in the improvement of the Libraries’ online learning instruction focusing on information literacy, learning theory, and student development in online environments. Actively engages and supports Library and TAMU initiatives.
  • Contribution to the Profession - Participates in scholarly activities and professional service for professional development and to incorporate new ideas and technologies into library services and programs. Serves on campus and library committees and engages with campus units to advocate for Library presence in online learning.
Qualifications
Assistant Librarian - Required Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in Library Science.
  • No prior experience required.
Associate Librarian - Required Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in Library Science.
  • 5 years related experience.
A Well-Qualified Candidate Will Also Possess
  • Experience or coursework related to implementing a cohesive tutorial program in either a K-12 setting or an academic library setting.
  • Experience with collaborating effectively with stakeholders such as faculty, staff, students, and/or administrators.
  • Experience or coursework related to implementing accessibility standards, including web accessibility standards (WCAG) and ADA requirements in educational contexts.
  • Experience or coursework using modern e-Learning authoring and multimedia production tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, H5P, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Cloud, Vyond, or equivalent tools.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of customers and employees.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and manage time effectively.
