Job description

Position Overview

One regular, part-time, grant-funded position, 18 hours per week, 12 months per year on the Oceanside Campus. The normal work schedule will be Monday & Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., and Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Occasional Saturdays will be required. The position is currently funded through 6/30/2027 only; continued employment after this date is contingent on grant renewal. The person selected for this position will be subject to assignment to any district facility during any hours of operation.

The position is an 'extended day' role with possible fluctuations in daily working hours and may be exempt from overtime compensation for hours in excess of eight (8) in a single day. Overtime beyond forty (40) hours per week will be compensated.

This is a nonteaching/noninstructional laboratory technician position that supports the nursing and allied health programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist within an instructional program by performing complex technical work in an instructional learning environment for a highly technical or complex vocational subject area.
• Exercise judgment and initiative in coordinating labs and other instructional facilities and materials of the assigned area of learning.
• Oversee the work of other support staff and student workers.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Compensation

Starting at $36,746.10 annually (range 25, step 1), with annual salary step increases up to step 5.

Residency Requirement

MiraCosta College Board Policy 7800: Employee Residency requires all classified staff, administrators, and temporary/hourly short-term employees to maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in the state of California that is within two hundred (200) road miles from the employee’s regularly assigned district worksite. The policy aims to promote efficiency and continuity, provide students with high-quality assistance and accessibility to all academic and campus services, ensure students receive an engaging education, and respond to emerging student needs. The District may consider an individual request to temporarily reside outside the State of California or outside the 200-mile limit on a case-by-case basis for up to twelve consecutive months.
