Broward County Public Schools at Margate Elementary in Margate, Florida seeks an Instructional Assistant for Title I Pre-K who will support the Head Start, Pre-K, or Preschool ESE Teacher with day-to-day classroom activities. The position is full-time.

Starting Date: To Be Determined. Minimum qualifications include an Associate degree or 60 semester hours, or a high school diploma with approved testing (ParaPro or equivalent).

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate degree or 60 semester hours from an accredited institution.
• Or a standard high school diploma with ParaPro testing or equivalent.
• Completion of the Teacher Assisting Curriculum and passing ParaPro or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Start, Pre-K, or ESE Teacher with day-to-day classroom activities.
• Support daily instructional routines, reading and writing readiness, and student engagement.
• Assist with classroom materials, setup, and supervision as needed.

Education

Associate degree or 60 semester hours

High school diploma with ParaPro or equivalent

Job Description

POSITION GOAL

To assist the Head Start, Pre-K, or Pre-School ESE Teacher with the day-to-day classroom activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• An earned Associates degree from an accredited institution is required, OR at least 60 semester hours of earned college credit from an accredited institution is required.
• OR
• Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
• Successful completion of the Teacher Assisting Curriculum at the designated technical center in the Broward County School District and achieve a passing score on the ParaPro Test, or other officially sanctioned standard tests, to demonstrate the ability to assist in instructing reading/language arts, writing, and mathematics; or reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate, is REQUIRED. Computer skills as required for the position.
• If additional hours of continuing education are mandated by program funding source they must be obtained within the required timeframe for continuing active employment in the position.
