Job summary

McKinley is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support classroom teachers in addressing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students. Responsibilities include direct instructional support, data collection, and curb-to-curb transportation assistance.

The role involves collaboration with staff, adherence to intervention plans, and occasional substitute teaching duties. Strong communication, organization, and physical requirements are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
• Experience with students with learning, emotional, and behavioral disabilities; autism spectrum; speech and communication disorders preferred.
• Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite, and other office software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• General administrative and clerical abilities.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, patience, empathy, and courtesy.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical examination, tuberculosis (TB) test, and drug screening.
• Ability to commute to various school sites based on program needs; complete Pro-ACT certification.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist or restrain students as necessary.
• May require prolonged computer work; extended hours as needed.
• DOJ, FBI, CACI checks; insurability under Corporate Automobile Insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support in a variety of academic areas.
• Follow through on intervention plans with consistency and professionalism.
• Fill in as a substitute teacher (if qualified).
• Work in several classrooms and with varying ages and grade levels.
• Assist in classroom management, crisis response, and physical restraint as trained.
• Provide tutoring to students in small groups or one-on-one.
• Follow through on behavior and academic intervention plans.
• Collaborate with classroom teacher and other staff.
• Provide transportation for community-based students to and from school if needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
• Represent the agency professionally with stakeholders.

The Position:

The role of the Instructional Assistant is to support the classroom teacher in addressing the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of all students. Responsibilities include direct instructional support, behavior intervention implementation, data collection, student supervision, and follow-through on intervention plans with consistency and care. Instructional Assistants are also responsible for curb-to-curb student transportation support.

Compensation And Benefits

The pay range we’re offering is $18.00- $22.00 hourly depending (Based) on experience.

• Manual dexterity is required for using instructional tools, technology, and supporting students with assistive devices
• May be required to perform prolonged work at a computer for documentation, planning, and communication purposes
• Ability to work extended hours as needed

• Providing toileting assistance to students as needed
• Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries at all times
• Represent the agency in a professional, respectful manner when interacting with internal and external stakeholders
• Complete all onboarding requirements within the designated time frame and remain in compliance with agency expectations for timely review and acknowledgment of policies, procedures, and trainings
