Job Summary

The Special Education Classroom Aide supports the instructional program for students by assisting the Special Education teacher in providing a supportive, inclusive, and effective learning environment for students with special needs, at varying levels of need. This role involves working closely with students to support their individual learning and social development, spending time between the special education/resource classroom and general education classrooms.

Responsibilities & Training

Applicants should have strong communication skills, an ability to build relationships, a willingness to be flexible, and a commitment to advocating for students. Must complete Basic Training (5 hours) provided by the JSD Special Education Department. Training must be completed within one week of hire as a condition of employment. Additional training is available through the Special Education department allowing employees to increase to lane 4 upon completion.

Compensation

Effective July 1, 2026 – Lane 3 Step 1 ($19.94/Hour). Salary schedules are available upon request.
