Job summary

Sheridan School District (AR) East End Elementary School in Little Rock, Arkansas seeks an Instructional Assistant to support teachers and students. The position involves direct instruction under supervision, classroom assistance, and supervision of students in various settings throughout the day.

The role requires an Associates degree or 60 college hours (or Praxis exam) and completion of required background checks.

Qualifications

• Must have an Associates Degree or 60 college hours or pass the Praxis exam.
• Must pass Arkansas background checks at own expense (state police, FBI, DHS).
• Ability to work with students of all ages and grade ranges.
• Ability to use a desktop computer.
• Effective communication.
• Provide direct instruction under teacher supervision.
• Conduct instructional activities to reinforce learning goals.

Responsibilities

• Implement instructional programs and lesson plans to assist the teacher.
• Assist in classroom management.
• Supervise students during the school day (lunch, bus, playground).
• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials.
• Maintain neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment.
• Assist teacher with administrative records and reports.
• Model appropriate behavior and confidentiality; inform about special needs.
• Demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality.
• Participate in staff development and training.
• Other duties as assigned by administration.
