Job summary

Cascade School District in Aumsville, Oregon, is seeking an Instructional Assistant III - Life Skills to support special education teachers in instruction, supervision and student learning in self-contained classrooms. The position is 32.5 hours per week over 182 contract days, with a salary range of $20.16–$25.65 per hour and required credentials including a Paraprofessional Assessment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate's degree or higher; or demonstrate knowledge in reading, writing and mathematics.
• Fingerprint-based criminal history verification clearance.
• Paraprofessional Assessment Certificate of Completion or equivalent.
• Basic instructional and classroom management knowledge.
• Readiness to obtain a First Aid Card if required.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of instructional, training, and/or support duties to assist the special education teachers in instruction, supervision, and education of students with severe physical and mental special needs the generally require placement in self-contained classrooms. May also be assigned in one-on-one teacher-to-student situations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Obtained an associate's degree or higher; or meet a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate through a formal state or local academic assessment the knowledge of and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing and mathematics or the instruction in readiness for these subjects.


• Fingerprint-based criminal history verification clearance.


• Paraprofessional Assessment Certificate of Completion, or ability to obtain through district program.


• Basic principles and practices of instructional program within area of assignment. Proper childcare techniques.


• Techniques and methods of student supervision and classroom management.


• English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation, basic bookkeeping, as required of specific assignment.


• Modern office methods, practices, procedures and computer equipment.


• May be required to obtain a First Aid Card.
