Job summary

Young World Physical Education seeks an Instructional Assistant I to support instruction and foster a positive, inclusive learning environment for diverse students in Silverton, Oregon. The role is full-time (7 hours per day) with flexibility to assist across general education and specialized settings.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, possibly an Associate’s degree, and First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree or 2 years of college coursework, or ability to pass district academic/instructional support assessment.
• First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain).
• Experience in a school setting is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with instructional delivery and student learning activities.
• Work with students individually, in small groups, and whole-class settings.
• Assist in implementing IEPs and student support strategies.
• Supervise students across all school environments (classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playground, buses, etc.).
• Support positive student behavior using district-approved strategies and interventions.
• Assist with student assessment, grading, and progress monitoring.
• Provide academic, behavioral, physical, and personal care support as needed.
