Basic Function

The Instructional Assistant supports the instructional program by assisting teachers in instruction, supervision, training of students, maintaining a positive learning environment, and providing clerical support.

  • Adapts classroom activities and materials under teacher guidance to support objectives.
  • Administers and scores assignments, tests, homework, and make-up work.
  • Communicates student progress to teachers.
  • Implements instructional programs and lesson plans under supervision.
  • Assists students individually or in groups with academic tasks.
  • Maintains classroom equipment and records.
  • Monitors students in various settings for discipline and safety.
  • Prepares instructional materials and equipment.
  • Reports observations and incidents to staff.
  • Responds to emergencies to ensure safety.
  • Supports teachers and staff in curriculum implementation.
  • Attends meetings and training sessions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Requires operating office equipment, maintaining records, basic math skills, understanding child development, and technology use. Ability to schedule, gather data, communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality, and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Works under supervision, guiding others, within a defined budget, impacting organizational services.
