Job summary

Gila Crossing Community School seeks an Instructional Assistant to support lead teachers by preparing learning materials, supervising students, and providing targeted academic help.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Instructional Support: Tutor individual students or small groups to reinforce core lessons.
• Classroom Prep: Organize learning materials, set up equipment, and prepare visual aids.
• Student Supervision: Monitor students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and playgrounds.
• Behavior Management: Help enforce classroom rules and encourage positive student behavior.
• Administrative Tasks: Take attendance, grade assignments, and organize student paperwork.
• Special Accommodations: Help implement IEPs for special education students where directed.
• Teacher Collaboration: Discuss student progress and daily lesson plans with the lead teacher.

Supervised By: Curriculum Director

Classification: Full-Time, 10-month contract

Directly Supervises: None

Qualifications

• Education – High school diploma or equivalency and an AA degree or 60 hours of college credits or a passing score on a paraprofessional test.
• Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain.
• Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and extensive background check.
• Experience - Previous experience in working with students with physical and learning needs preferred.

• Able to bend, lift 40 pounds, and stand and walk for extended periods of time.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD:

Newly appointed employees will be subject to an initial ninety (90) calendar day probation period.
