Job summary

Lakota Local Schools is seeking an Instructional Aide for Special Education / Emotionally Disabled at 0.875 FTE. This role supports students with emotional and behavioral needs under certified staff guidance.

The aide helps with academics, behavior, and emotional development, in a structured, inclusive setting, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and ensuring safe participation in both general and specialized classrooms.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associate degree is preferred.
• Current Educational Aide Permit from the Ohio Department of Education valid in Lakota Local Schools.
• CPR/First Aid and Crisis Prevention Intervention training as required.
• Experience with emotional/behavioral challenges is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the academic, behavioral, and emotional development of students with emotional/behavioral disabilities.
• Provide structured instructional support and promote a positive learning environment.
• Collaborate with certified staff and school multidisciplinary team.
• Model appropriate behavior and ensure safe, constructive participation in class activities.

Description: Instructional Aide - Special Education / Emotionally Disabled, .875 FTE

Job Summary: The IA - Special Education / ED supports the academic, behavioral, and emotional development of students with emotional and behavioral disabilities under the direction of certified staff.

This role fosters a structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment through consistent behavioral interventions, individualized instructional support, and collaboration with the school's multidisciplinary team. The aide models appropriate behavior, promotes positive peer interactions, and ensures safe, constructive participation in both general and specialized classroom settings.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Current Educational Aide Permit from the Ohio Department of Education valid in Lakota Local Schools.
• Successful completion of applicable training (e.g., CPR/First Aid, Crisis Prevention Intervention as required).
• Experience working with students with emotional or behavioral challenges preferred.

Working Conditions: 7 hours per day, 5 days per week and 184 days based on a school year calendar.

Per current Lakota salary schedule, starting at $18.99 per hour plus $1.50 differential per hour based on verified experience.
