Duneland School Corporation seeks an Instructional Aide at Liberty Elementary School, working with students with intense emotional and behavioral needs. The role includes providing assistance in instructional settings, participating in IEPs, and fostering student independence.
Starting hourly salary is $17. Candidates must meet Indiana requirements and have at least two years of college education. This position typically works 5.75 hours a day for no more than 180 days per year.
The primary responsibility for the Instructional Assistant is direct involvement with students with intense emotional and behavioral needs in the instructional setting. Job duties range from supporting students in the classroom to supplementing the regular classroom curriculum with additional enrichment activities. This position will deal with community members, parents, students, and staff on a regular basis and will be expected to interact with these publics in a professional, friendly, and organized manner.

Equipment: This position requires maintaining a working knowledge of all classroom equipment. A basic knowledge of operations for computers, printers, telephone systems, fax machines, and copiers is required.
Hours: This position is typically expected to work an average of 5.75 hours or less per day, no more than 180 days per year. Hours/days may be adjusted per the direct supervisor to assure adequate coverage to meet the demands of the school and job.
Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently must stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be capable of physically assisting students with disabilities as required in some possible assignments (positioning, lifting, transferring, restraining, etc.).
