STARTING SALARY: $15.00 hourly
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for providing additional educational support for students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade in large classrooms and/or who are not performing at grade level in reading and math. In addition, the instructional aides support the schools’ program by assisting in the recess activity program and filling in for the office staff as needed and/or assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percent, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals; write documents following prescribed formats; and present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: age-appropriate activities/behaviors; codes/laws/rules/regulations/policies; curriculum and instructional methods; English grammar/punctuation/spelling/vocabulary; health standards; instructional media/equipment; office equipment/software; office practices; and safety practices.
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: administer first aid; customer service; effective listening; instructional techniques; interpersonal aptitude; managing projects/programs; and office practices.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather and/or collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data using defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the performance of light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The position typically involves 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. The position requires visual acuity as well as frequent hearing and talking and some crouching, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and significant fine finger dexterity. This position is performed in an indoor and generally hazard free environment.
