Qualifications

  • Passing ETS ParaPro Assessment or equivalent is required.
  • Able to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiar with Google Suite and instructional tech tools.

Responsibilities

  • Support instruction for individuals or small groups in core subjects.
  • Assist in managing classroom behavior and school-wide targeted supports.
  • Prepare and maintain instructional materials and equipment.
  • Provide testing accommodations and supervise tests when needed.
  • Help implement curriculum modifications for students.
  • Support field trips, assemblies and life skills activities.
  • Model appropriate behavior and offer emotional support.
  • Coordinate with teachers to track student progress and adapt activities.
  • Utilize Zoom and Nearpod to deliver virtual instruction as needed.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines per district directives.
  • Perform routine clerical tasks and data entry as assigned.
  • Assist with behavior intervention plans and inclusive practices.

Job description

Position Summary

Under the direction of the School Leader or other certificated employee, the Instructional Aide will assist by performing a variety of instructional support duties to individual or small groups of students within the special education setting or regular classroom (both in–person and virtually). The aide will help maximize the learning opportunity for the inclusion student and support classroom and school‑wide behavior.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the establishment and implementation of appropriate classroom and school‑wide behavior.
  • Perform a routine of clerical tasks as assigned.
  • Provide instruction and support to students in small groups or one‑to‑one assignments across core academic and specialized subject areas.
  • Prepare, set up, and maintain instructional materials and equipment.
  • Assist classroom teachers in creating curriculum modifications for students.
  • Provide testing accommodations, including supervising students completing tests in a separate location or during an extended time.
  • Review and correct student work assignments.
  • Assist in the implementation of behavior intervention plans.
  • Facilitate social interactions and support positive relationships between students with disabilities and their peers.
  • Model appropriate behavior and provide emotional support and general guidance.
  • Support students during field trips, school assemblies, and community‑based life skills activities.
  • Adhere to KIPP’s health and safety guidelines as outlined by the CDC, CDE, and public health agencies’ recommendations.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Paid or volunteer experience working with students or children in an academic or behavioral support setting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; A.A., B.A., or equivalent with a minimum of 48 units.
  • Pass the ETS ParaPro Assessment (passing score = 460).
  • Strong content area knowledge and the ability to build relationships with students, families, and communities.
  • Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Proficient knowledge of Google Suite applications (Google Classroom, Hangouts, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.).
  • Ability to learn and utilize instructional technology (Zoom, Nearpod).
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
  • Commitment to KIPP mission, anti‑racist education, and belief that all students can achieve at the highest academic levels.
Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands
  • Physical: navigate school and classroom settings, access and use technology, occasional lifting of 1–20 lb.
  • Mental: meet deadlines, analyze problems, handle interruptions, concentrate for long periods, read, calculate, memorize, and recall information.
  • Environmental: work in a school and classroom environment with constant interruptions and distractions.
Classification and Compensation

Full‑time, 40 hour a week, non‑exempt position based on a school year calendar cycle and time‑off policy. Salary range: $20.00–$24.00 per hour, paid over a 12‑month period (including school breaks and summer break) and includes an additional 60 days of school‑break pay. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and transportation.
