Job summary

The Learning Lamp in New York is seeking part-time classroom support staff to assist the teacher with instructional materials and a positive learning environment. You will work with students in small groups or individually to reinforce concepts and help maintain a safe, organized classroom.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, be willing to complete required clearances, and demonstrate patience, empathy, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Willingness to pass required clearances and training to ensure safety of our children, including mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend and move for long periods during the eight-hour day.
• Patience, empathy, and genuine interest in supporting student learning.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and collaborate with the teacher and school staff.
• Flexibility and adaptability to different classroom dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in preparing instructional materials.

• Maintain an organized classroom and assist with displays and bulletin boards.

What are the duties and responsibilities?

Classroom Support:

• Assist the classroom teacher in preparing instructional materials.

Individualized Student Assistance:

What are the required qualifications?

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Willingness to go through and pass the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test. This can typically be accomplished within a week to get you started.
• Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time, as these happen throughout the eight-hour day.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting student learning.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with the teacher and school staff.
• Flexibility and adaptability to different classroom dynamics and learning environments.
