Job summary

California Environmental Voters in Oakland is seeking a Grants Specialist to secure and renew institutional grants by crafting strong proposals and reports, researching new prospects, and coordinating internal information flows. You will collaborate with the Philanthropy Team, program staff, and the VP of Philanthropy to drive successful funding outcomes.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of grant writing or related fundraising experience in a nonprofit.
• Persuasive writing skills and the ability to turn complex policy and advocacy work into compelling cases for support; writing samples required.
• Ability to research, analyze, and synthesize information to identify and qualify funding opportunities.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple proposals, reports, and deadlines at once.

Responsibilities

• Write compelling proposals and reports (50%). Draft and edit letters of inquiry, grant proposals, reports, and supporting materials for institutional funders, meeting all deadlines on the grant calendar.
• Prospect and expand the funding pipeline by researching opportunities and preparing prospect profiles.
• Coordinate grants administration by recording awards, payments, and documentation in Raiser's Edge NXT and SharePoint.
• General administration including team meetings, training, and HR processes.
