Coordinates data mining and reporting activities in support of institutional effectiveness including report writing, report submission, assessment and accreditation, and archival records and retention.
REPORT WRITER/CREATOR: Develops simple to complex queries to manipulate table data and for uploading student data into third party products and responds to inquiries for information using PL/SQL Developer; query tables for structure, field names, and field formats to assist with report writing and to solve problems as requested by data owners. Perform data mining from existing university relational databases in Banner, etc. into specialized software such as WebFocus, to merge data and provide reports.
REPORTING AGENT: Extracts data and generates reports, ensuring accuracy, to facilitate ongoing data dissemination via the Fact Book, System Metrics, Program Review, and website documents. Collects, develops, and submits reports for IPEDS, College Board, Accountability Draft System, NSSE, BCSSE, RNL, CATEF, NCES, and NPSAS on a semester/annual basis. Assists with reporting to governing, compliance, and regulatory bodies (e.g., SACSCOC, THECB, and TAMU System offices) by producing professional quality charts, tables, and graphics for summary and detailed reports.
Design, administer, and provide consultation on the use of online survey tools (such as SurveyMonkey, Scantron Class Climate, Blackboard and GoogleForms), as well as, assessment and accreditation management technologies (e.g., AEFIS/HelioCampus). Consult with academic programs, academic and student support programs, and administrative units on the design, implementation, and revision of assessment processes. Serve as administrator for the university course and instructor evaluation process. Provide training and professional development opportunities through assessment committee leadership, workshops, and the development of technical resources. Coordinate program reviews of assessment information submitted by academic programs, academic and student support programs, and administrative units, and assists in the development of assessment plans.
Successfully collaborates with other professionals, who are responsible for data reporting across campus, to coordinate and facilitate institutional research projects, utilization of data resources, interpreting results, and identifying various data needs. Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. One year of related experience in quantitative and qualitative techniques, research designs, assessment protocols, or other related field. Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of statistical software. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
Significant quantitative analysis course work at the undergraduate level Master’s degree in computer science, quantitative business area, or social sciences related field Knowledge of query tools such as PL/SQL Developer, Toad, and SQL*Plus Experience with Banner student information system (SIS) Familiarity with strategic planning and assessment processes Ability to build queries in a relational database using SQL and/or Web FOCUS
