Position Summary
The primary role of the Installer is to perform duties required to facilitate the assembly and fabrication of final products at an assembly plant. The Installer operates hand and power tools, follows safe practices, and constructs final products according to established procedures and project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Read and follow blueprints, drawings, and sketches to meet project specifications.
- Measure, cut, and assemble framing lumber for residential, commercial, or industrial buildings.
- Assemble and install structural components and materials.
- Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
- Measure, cut, or shape metal, wood, and other materials.
- Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, roofs, and doorframes.
- Erect, level, and install building frameworks with rigging and cranes.
- Instruct and direct laborers and other construction helpers.
- Work with light‑gauge and load‑bearing steel framing for interior partitions, exterior framing, and curtain wall construction.
- Work with concrete forming systems and finish interior and exterior walls, partitions, and ceilings.
- Accurately take measurements and calculate material quantities.
- Use tools to cut and shape smooth construction materials according to plans.
- Build modular structures and buildings using raw materials, pre‑fab components, or sub‑assemblies.
- Lay out walls, flooring, roofing, etc., ensuring they are level, plumb, and installed per plans.
- Operate trade‑specific machinery.
- Position and install parts, sub‑assemblies, and accessories using hand and power tools and hoists.
- Mark, record, and report defects.
- Clean and prepare work area or cell.
- Read, understand, and follow written work instructions.
- Interpret job orders and drawings as needed.
- Inspect and document product compliance.
- Handle materials.
- Maintain accurate time records and metrics.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Post‑secondary diploma is a plus.
- Hands‑on experience with carpentry materials.
- Previous experience as a carpenter, fabricator, or installer is preferred.
- Ability to operate required equipment safely and responsibly.
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
- Time‑management skills.
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and other technical diagrams.
- Critical eye for identifying defects.
- Commitment to quality and safety.
- Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and tools required in assembly processes.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of machines and tools.
- Ability to determine correct tools and equipment for a job.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to schedule.
- Experience working in a shop environment and awareness of associated hazards.
- Strong working knowledge of construction techniques, including installation and assembly.
- Working knowledge of trade materials and tools.
- Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting, and handling procedures.
- Knowledge of First Aid and CPR.
- Knowledge of industry‑specific hazards.
Minimum Physical Requirements and Accountability
- Work predominantly inside and in dusty, noisy areas.
- Work in high places, tight spaces, and confined spaces.
- Climb, balance, squat, kneel, and crouch.
- Stand for long periods.
- Lift and carry 51–75 lbs occasionally and 31–45 lbs frequently, and sustain 16–22 lbs continuously.
- Use personal protection equipment (e.g., safety glasses, boots).
- Work near moving mechanical parts and in varying temperatures.
- Use abdominal and lower back muscles to support loads without fatigue.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Be accountable for safety and health; empowered to stop work if unsafe conditions exist.
- Implement and maintain all safety and health systems, including required training.
