Job summary

AVI‑SPL, Inc. is seeking an Installation Technician 1 to perform installation tasks on contracted projects, including cable pulls, terminations, and rack wiring.

You will coordinate with Lead Technician to ensure timely, within-scope delivery, while upholding safety and quality standards across customer sites. Responsibilities include interpreting schematics, using hand and power tools for AV components, and assisting with basic fabrication.

• Basic understanding of audio-visual systems including projectors, screens, speakers, microphones, video conferencing equipment, digital signage and control systems.
• Basic proficiency in installing, terminating and troubleshooting low‑voltage cabling (HDMI, CAT5e/6, fiber) and conduit runs.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues with audiovisual equipment.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
• Basic understanding of network infrastructure and integration with AV systems.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints as part of install tasks.
• Perform installation tasks and support Lead Technician on projects.
• Use hand and power tools to solder and crimp connectors for AV systems.
• Assist with equipment management and security on job sites.
• Assist with basic mechanical fabrication and rack wiring.
• Travel to various job sites as required.
• Adapt tasks as priorities evolve to support the team and organization.

The Installation Technician 1 will perform installation tasks on AVI‑SPL contracted projects including cable pulls, cable terminations, system equipment and components, rack systems and metal fabrication, coordinating with Lead Technician to ensure projects meet time, scope, budget, quality, safety and customer satisfaction requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Installation Technician 1 will perform installation tasks on AVI‑SPL contracted projects including cable pulls, cable terminations, system equipment and components, rack systems and metal fabrication per project directives and requirements, coordinating with Lead Technician to ensure projects achieve time, scope, budget, quality, safety and customer satisfaction requirements.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

• Perform installation tasks as noted in job summary and in support of Lead Technician
• Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints
• Use hand and power tools to solder and crimp connectors along with various other AV system installation related tasks
• Assist Lead Tech with management and security of all associated equipment and tools on jobsite
• Assist with basic mechanical fabrication and basic rack wiring
• Travel to various job sites required
• Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and projects as needed to support the team and organization, ensuring flexibility in adapting to evolving priorities and objectives

Items to Consider

• AVI‑SPL reserves the right to alter work hours and location as necessary. Work hours may vary based on client requirements and may include travel to various locations in support of the account.
• This position will generally work on customer sites and may deal with a construction site type of work environment

Must‑Haves

• Basic proficiency in installing, terminating and troubleshooting low‑voltage cabling (e.g., HDMI, CAT5e/6, fiber optic) and experience with conduit runs, cable trays and other wiring methods
• Basic ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues with audiovisual equipment and systems
• Ability to use hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner
• Basic understanding of network infrastructure and how it integrates with audiovisual systems (e.g., IP‑based systems, streaming, cloud‑based services)
• Ability to work and think independently and meet deadlines
• Valid driver’s license and a motor vehicle record that meets AVI‑SPL driving privilege standards
• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required

• Employees driving fleet vehicles must meet eligibility requirements; comply with all guidelines, including telematics monitoring, vehicle maintenance schedules, proper use of assigned fuel and toll devices

Nice‑to‑Haves

• Formal education in electronics or related field
• Ability to obtain formal approved clearances (government or system specific) may be required

Compensation

Hourly: $20–$26 per hour
