Job summary

Arbon Equipment – A Rite-Hite Company in Windsor, CT, is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to inspect, repair, maintain, and install customer equipment in the field, delivering reliable service on time. You will work mostly independently, with occasional teamwork, and interact with customers to ensure satisfaction.

You will operate service vehicles per DOT standards, read safety rules and schematics, and communicate clearly to exceed expectations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–5 years of repair and service experience on hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical equipment.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass DOT medical exam.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, blueprints & schematics, manuals.
• Strong math, measurement, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, maintain, and install customer equipment in the field.
• Develop and maintain good customer relations with a service-oriented mindset.
• Operate service vehicle per DOT standards and use field tools safely.
• Provide guidance and training to other technicians as needed.
• Complete service tickets and paperwork accurately using handheld devices or paper forms.

This is mainly accomplished individually but may sometimes be accomplished in small teams.As skills and knowledge develop, guide other Service Technicians with less skills/knowledge through complex problems in the field. This may include training other Service Technicians in the proper field installation, service and repair of equipment and proper administrative procedures instilling Rite-Hite's commitment to customer service.Using the handheld devices (or paper backup forms if needed) accurately complete all necessary paperwork associated with field service, repair, and installation, including service tickets, timesheets, open job tracking form and safety analysis sheets.Maintain compliance with operation and communication standards as per the Field Service Technician Handbook.This position requires the operation of a service vehicle in compliance with DOT Driver Qualification standards, as well as truck-based cranes, forklifts, welders, torches, and power and hand tools.Follow all customer-specific requirements, policies, safety guidelines and directions on their work sites.Work closely with all other departments in the company, communicating and coordinating activities to efficiently maximize customer satisfaction.“Occasional (under 20% annually) domestic overnight travel may be required for training, supporting customers at other offices, etc. may be required.”Other duties may be assigned.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEThe successful individual will possess:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); andOne to five year’s experience in repair and service of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical equipmentKNOWLEDGE / SKILL REQUIREMENTSThe ideal individual will demonstrate:Service Technicians must have a valid drivers licensePassing DOT medical examApplicable driver qualification standards at all times.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints & schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. The number of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus opportunity may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of benefits including medical, dental, life, and vision insurance, disability, a 401(k) plan, profit sharing, and PTO/vacation.
