ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform timely and proper inspection, repair, maintenance, and installation of customer equipment to exceed expectations and to uphold Rite‑Hite’s image as an industry leader in customer service.
- Develop and maintain good customer relations that exemplify Rite‑Hite’s commitment to service.
- Comply with all company policies and safety guidelines.
- Install, inspect, and repair equipment in the field efficiently while ensuring customer needs are met and exceeded.
- Guide less experienced Service Technicians through complex field problems, including training in installation, service, repair, and proper administrative procedures.
- Use handheld devices (or paper backup forms if needed) to accurately complete all necessary paperwork, including service tickets, timesheets, open job tracking forms, and safety analysis sheets.
- Maintain compliance with operation and communication standards as outlined in the Field Service Technician Handbook.
- Operate a service vehicle in compliance with DOT Driver Qualification standards, as well as truck‑based cranes, forklifts, welders, torches, and power/hand tools.
- Follow all customer‑specific requirements, policies, safety guidelines, and directions on their work sites.
- Work closely with all other departments, communicating and coordinating activities to maximize customer satisfaction.
- Occasional domestic overnight travel (under 20% annually) may be required for training or supporting customers at other offices.
- Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- One to five years of experience in repair and service of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical equipment.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver’s license.
- Passing DOT medical exam and adherence to applicable driver qualification standards.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, blueprints & schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rate, ratio, percent, and graph interpretation.
- Common sense and problem‑solving skills to address standardized situations involving multiple variables.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role will not have supervisory responsibilities.
