Job Title
Installation Technician
Essential Position Functions
- Technical proficiency in structured cabling, installation of total integrated voice and data systems, networks, and wireless.
- Completes additions, removals, changes, upgrades and maintenance to service contracts.
- Performs installations and maintenance of equipment, including central office equipment, iron work, AC, transport equipment, and all infrastructures.
- Occasionally performs outside plant installation.
- Manages inventory of assigned tools and ensures calibration.
- Submits ECR or Red Line for changes that would alter work items, assignments, or specifications.
- Writes and presents methods of procedure for customer approval.
- Stages equipment and inventories material accurately.
- Assigns tasks to subordinates and monitors their work ethics for efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Ensures accurate installation of all equipment.
- Performs tests for completeness or wiring to ensure correct installation.
- Coordinates power cuts with the customer within the maintenance window.
- Ensures timely completion of final paperwork for the customer.
- Starts and completes each project, producing a quality, on‑time, profitable product presented to the customer.
- Completes quality assurance procedures and checks final products for errors.
- Ensures safety, quality, and efficiency of the crew.
- Interfaces with customer contacts on projects and work orders.
- Coordinates with other vendors when required.
- Provides technical support for customer contacts and technicians.
- Attends project planning and progress meetings.
- Adheres to Environmental, Health & Safety policies of the telecommunications industry.
- Other duties as required.
Additional Expectations
- Construction work is project‑driven and may vary in availability. Unassigned roles may involve ground support, site preparation, equipment maintenance, warehouse support, or other company projects.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Vocational/Technical Business School desired.
- Minimum of 6 years telecommunication training and/or experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency and profitability at Technician III level.
- Exceptional telephony skills beyond general installation.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving ability.
- Discretion with confidential information.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
- Proficient with Windows‑based computer.
- Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and timely.
- Strong attention to detail in fast‑paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
- Can work alone and in a team.
- Must pass drug screen and criminal background check.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged standing.
- Climbing stairs, ladders, scaffolds.
- Carrying loads up/down stairs, reaching, grasping.
- Stooping, kneeling, walking, bending, crawling, crouching.
- Carrying, pushing, pulling.
- Finger and wrist dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
- Lifting/moving up to 70 pounds.
- Effective communication with employees, management, peers.
Work Environment

- Travel up to 50% (planned in advance).
