Job summary

Hussmann is seeking an experienced HVAC/R Installation Technician to maintain, diagnose, and repair systems in commercial environments. The role emphasizes project supervision, cost awareness, and strong teamwork across on-site installations.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of commercial HVAC/R experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a technical degree is preferred. Willingness to travel, lift up to 50 pounds, and work nights/weekends is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or 5 years of related experience.
  • Technical degree preferred.
  • EPA 608 certification preferred but not required.
  • HVAC/R with minimum 5-year commercial experience.
  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Physically able to climb ladders, work at height, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, detail oriented and highly motivated.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and out of town as required.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong project management skills and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints for energy management and refrigerant leak systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee assigned site installation project and report progress to Installation Supervisor/Project Manager.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects and customer satisfaction.
  • Set schedules and assignments based on priority, equipment, and personnel.
  • Communicate with customers and their representatives, including owners and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with contracting processes and closeout procedures.
  • Maintain forecasted cost at completion by reviewing hours and material costs; discuss scope and budgets with contractors and owners.
  • Coordinate site installation or remodel with supervision of installers and helpers; arrange materials and labor.
  • Read plans and blueprints for energy management and refrigerant leak system installations.
  • Read, analyze and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Inspect work areas and train staff on safety and procedures.
  • Manage multiple priorities with minimal guidance.

Responsibilities

Oversee assigned site branch Installation project, report progress to Installation Supervisor/Project Manager with the optimal goal to provide safe, quality and efficient service as well as maximize profit and maintain customer satisfaction.

  • Responsible for timely completion of assigned projects and customer satisfaction.
  • Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel.
  • Communicates with customers and their representatives, including building owners, mechanical contractors, other trades, subcontractors, and field support staff.
  • Ensures compliance with internal contracting processes regarding customer specific documentation and closeout processes.
  • Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the forecasted cost at completion by reviewing hours worked and material cost of project. Meets with contractors and owners to discuss scope of project; budgets; performance; and close-out.
  • Coordinate Installation or remodel job on-site to include Installers and Helpers and provide Supervision. Duties may also include coordinating material and estimation of labor. Requisition materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, or replacement parts.
  • Ability to read and comprehend plans and blueprints as appropriate to trade regarding the installation of all cabling, communication loops, and components associated with the installation of energy management and refrigerant leak systems.
  • Ability to perform all job duties of an Installation Technician Ability to delegate tasks and motivate individuals.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans, specifications, contract documents, control drawings, service bulletins, technical procedure manuals, equipment specifications, and governmental regulations.
  • Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules. Strong leadership skills, manage the team in professional manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal guidance and direction.
Qualifications
Formal Education Requirement:

Required Level: High School OR Ten years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred level: Technical Degree

Minimum Years of Experience Necessary: 5 year of exp with HS/GED

Additional Information
