Job summary

BENDER STEEL & REPAIR INC. is seeking an Install Foreman to lead field crews on steel installation projects. This hands-on role combines leadership with technical acumen, reading prints, coordinating with project managers and clients, and maintaining safety and productivity on site.

You’ll work alongside the crew daily, ensure quality, and adapt plans as conditions change in the field. The ideal candidate has proven steel installation leadership experience, strong communication, problem-solving

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in construction or steel installation leadership roles.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and prints.
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with crew members, project managers, and clients.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and confidence in making decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency with relevant equipment (telehandler, skid steer, lifts).
  • Self-driven with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability and certification in structural stick welding
  • Leadership & Crew Management: keep the team on task, monitor quality, and correct mistakes.

Responsibilities

  • Keep the team on task, monitor quality of work, and correct mistakes or faulty work.
  • Work alongside the crew daily to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and safe work environment.
  • Read and interpret project prints accurately.
  • Identify discrepancies in alignment, centering, and leveling.
  • Ensure every bolt is tightened, every scratch is addressed, and all finishing touches are completed.
  • Oversee thorough cleanup of the job site after completion.
  • Prioritize tasks daily to move projects forward.
  • Recognize when to push through challenges and when to pause for problem resolution.
  • Facilitate group discussions when necessary to determine the best course of action.
  • Adapt plans as needed to respond to changes in the field.
  • Proactively identify and address potential issues that could impede progress.
  • Work with project manager to communicate field changes, project needs, and progress of the job.
  • Prepare equipment, materials, and job sites ahead of scheduled install work.
  • Flexibility to come in early or work late to maintain the job momentum.
  • Operate telehandlers, skid steers, and scissor lifts.
  • CDL is preferred but not required.

Job description

The Install Foreman at Bender Steel is a hands-on leadership role responsible for guiding installation crews through projects from start to finish. This position requires strong communication, technical expertise, and the ability to adapt to changing conditions in the field. The foreman position is a working position; you will be working alongside the crew. This position also ensures that work is completed accurately, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining safety and productivity on the job site.
