Job summary

Hendry County School District is seeking a qualified Language Arts Teacher to provide engaging instruction aligned with district and state standards. The position involves planning, delivering, and assessing lessons to foster student growth in literacy and critical thinking.

The teacher will implement diverse instructional strategies, manage classrooms, collaborate with staff and parents, and uphold professional ethics and school policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution.
• Certified by the State of Florida in the appropriate area.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Identify or develop long and short range plans based on student needs.
• Plan and prepare work for students which is meaningful and engaging.
• Plan and prepare lessons and instructional strategies which support the school improvement plan and the district mission.
• Plan and prepare instructional activities that promote meaningful learning experiences.
• Identify, select, develop, or modify instructional materials to meet diverse needs.
• Assist in preparing for changing curriculum needs and continuous improvement.
• Maintain a positive, organized, and safe learning environment.
• Establish and use behavior management techniques which are effective.
• Enforce school rules, regulations, and board policy.
• Maintain student records as required by FERPA.
• Manage time effectively and handle materials and equipment efficiently.
• Supervise volunteers and aides as assigned.
• Develop and use assessment strategies to support learner development.
• Interpret and use data for diagnosis, planning, and evaluation.
• Establish proper testing environments and ensure test accuracy.
• Demonstrate knowledge of curriculum content and effective teaching methods.
• Use diverse instructional strategies for students with different learning styles.
• Provide instruction and modifications for students with special needs.
• Deliver quality work that is engaging and relevant to learning goals.
• Promote a positive learning environment encouraging active student participation.
