Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements for subject and level assigned
• ESL Certification required within 2 years of employment for teachers hired in 2010-2011
• Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
• Gifted Teachers must have 30 hours of approved gifted hours
• Completion of student teaching or approved internship

Responsibilities

• Serve a diverse population of students and participate in district/state programs
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with parents, students, colleagues, and community members
• Comply with district policies, rules, and regulations
• Maintain an attendance rate of 94% annually (excluding leaves)
• Plan meetings and provide documentation for admissions, progress, and grades
• Work with staff to determine instructional goals and methods
• Diagnose learning needs and seek intervention with leadership support
• Plan and teach TEA-aligned curriculum and show written evidence of preparation
• Develop and implement lessons reflecting diverse learning styles and needs
• Collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula as needed
• Work with others to support instructional goals and district requirements
• Assess student progress and provide timely feedback and reports
• Participate in professional development and attend faculty meetings
• Follow district safety protocols and maintain technology competence
• Perform other duties as assigned
