Job summary

Blount County Board of Education is seeking a qualified Teacher to lead students toward intellectual and personal growth, delivering instruction in accordance with local and state guidelines. The role reports to the Principal and Assistant Principal within an 187-day schedule.

The position requires valid Alabama Professional Educator Certification and a degree with endorsement to teach the assigned subject/grades.

Qualifications

• Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate.
• Degree with endorsement to teach the subject/grades for which the teacher is assigned.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to school system rules, procedures, local board policy, and state/federal rules.
• Create an environment conducive to learning aligned to local/state curriculum guidelines.
• Foster student attitudes through teaching values of citizenship, self-discipline, morality, and patriotism.
• Organize daily class assignments and develop weekly lesson plans; translate plans into learning experiences.
• Maintain discipline, protect textbooks and school property, and ensure order in classes and on campus.
• Attend meetings with administrators and maintain professional growth through development.
• Assess and communicate student progress regularly to students and parents, using data to differentiate instruction.
• Identify student needs and develop IEPs/504 plans with appropriate modifications.
• Participate in administration of state/standardized testing and ensure testing environments and security.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy; keep confidentiality.
