Job summary

Penn Hills School District is seeking an anticipated Health and Physical Education Teacher for Penn Hills Elementary School. This on-site role requires a PA teaching certificate and a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education.

The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of elementary teaching experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, and the ability to engage students using diverse instructional strategies and effective classroom management.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education is required.
• A valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate in relevant content area is required.
• One to three years of elementary school experience is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 including Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergencies per Safety plan and directs to appropriate personnel.
• Plans and prepares daily lessons based on formative assessments and curriculum.
• Contributes to school effectiveness by addressing short- and long-term issues and advising on options.
• Establishes course objectives following curriculum guidelines and school goals.
• Uses instructional aids and current technology to convey information to students.
• Administers and scores tests; reviews assignments and evaluates learning outcomes.
• Maintains records of learning accomplishments, attendance and behavior.
• Guides students’ personal and social development with classroom rules and procedures.
• Employs varied instructional activities and matches instruction to student needs.
• Communicates with parents about academic information and resources.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by following procedures and regulations.
• Keeps current professional knowledge through workshops and publications.
• Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
• Completes assignments as directed by Building Principal and/or appraiser.
