Job summary

Salvation Army Annapolis Corps is seeking a part-time School of Music instructor to plan, coordinate, and direct the music program for youth. You will provide quality instruction, teach theory, and prepare students for recitals while ensuring safety and a positive experience.

Responsibilities include instrument care during class, reporting repairs, maintaining discipline, and developing activities to grow musical abilities and learning skills. This role involves working up to 10 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience teaching music education or equivalent.
• Ability to play and teach lessons in a classroom setting involving more than one student preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality music instruction to students.
• Teaches music theory as it applies to the appropriate level for playing purposes.
• Provides appropriate lessons for instruction time.
• Be responsible for the care of instruments during class, with necessary repairs immediately reported to the Youth and Music Evangelism Director and/or Corps Officers.
• Prepares students for recitals and concerts.
• Recommends and develops activities which will develop musical abilities, motor and learning skills of students.
• Maintains discipline and acceptable behaviors of students, which will create an atmosphere of friendliness and security during all program periods, enabling all students to feel welcome and comfortable.
