Job summary

ARISE Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company (ABIIC) Risk Retention Group is seeking an inspector to perform field and shop inspections of boilers and pressure vessels across various sites in the United States. You will document results, witness tests, and ensure compliance with ASME and National Board Codes.

The role requires communication skills, meticulous reporting, and the ability to travel to customer locations.

Qualifications

• Educational and technical training in boiler/pressure vessel systems.
• Industry certifications are advantageous for candidate evaluation.
• Experience with inspection processes and relevant codes is expected.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of boilers and pressure vessels for regulatory compliance.
• Witness pressure tests per jurisdictional requirements.
• Conduct field and shop inspections following ASME/National Board Codes.
• Document inspection results and report nonconformities.
• Perform Loss Control inspections per internal policies.
• Manage inspection activities to meet codes and requirements.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve non-compliant conditions.

Your Tasks

• Perform inspections of boilers and pressure vessels to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
• Witness pressure tests in accordance with jurisdictional requirements
• Conduct inspections at field and shop locations in line with ASME and National Board Codes
• Document and report inspection results, including nonconforming conditions, following regulatory and company standards
• Carry out Loss Control inspections and other assigned inspections in compliance with internal policies
• Manage assigned inspection activities to meet governing codes, jurisdictional requirements, and company procedures
• Support engineering evaluations and recommend solutions for non-compliant conditions in collaboration with internal teams and customers

Your Qualifications

• Valid National Board or Jurisdictional Commission
• Relevant ASME or National Board Code endorsements, as required
• Educational background in a relevant field, such as:
  • High school diploma with technical training or apprenticeship (e.g., boilermaker, pipefitter, steamfitter)
  • Power Engineering certification or equivalent technical program
  • Military or merchant marine training in boilers, pressure vessels, or related systems
  • Certifications such as CWI, API-510, or API-570 are advantageous
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, science, or mathematics is a plus
• At least one year of experience in the pressure equipment industry (e.g., inspection, manufacturing, maintenance, engineering review, or NDE)
• Strong understanding of applicable codes, standards, and inspection processes
• Ability to communicate technical findings clearly in both written and verbal formats
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan work and meet deadlines
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work independently when needed
