This opportunity entails providing daily inspection of multiple routine activities within a given discipline or trade performed by a contractor to monitor the project’s compliance with plans, specifications, and other contract provisions. Daily logs of inspection work are maintained and discrepancies or changes are reviewed with the Field Engineer. Work is limited to smaller, standard, less complex projects.

What You’ll Do

• Observe, document, and verify work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans. Confirm procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
• Utilize engineering inspection practices to perform standard mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date.
• Maintain Inspector’s daily report of assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment, and quantity of material received and verified.
• Perform on‑site material testing and produce as‑constructed sketches as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 3 years of construction‑related experience.
• All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.

What You’ll Bring

• Recognize and escalete discrepancies or conflicts within documents.
• Interpret and understand schedules to provide feedback.
• Operate relevant testing equipment for assigned duties.
• Have advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills and other computer skills.
• Calculate complex pay quantities.
• Identify, document, and escalete change conditions.

What We Prefer

• West Virginia Division of Highways inspection experience.
• WVDOH - Transportation Engineering Technician Level 3.
