Job summary

GKN Aerospace in New York seeks an experienced inspector to verify product characteristics and manufacturing documentation through visual, mechanical, automated, and non‑contact inspection methods onsite at a supplier facility.

You will support root‑cause analyses, preventive and corrective actions to reduce non‑conformances, contribute to Lean initiatives, and ensure AS9100 compliance while maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in inspection methods and following work instructions.
• 1+ years of experience with AS9100 requirements.
• 1+ years of experience with Lean processes and practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections per product work instructions and directions.
• Conduct first-article inspections per site policies and work instructions.

Job Summary

Responsible for the verification of product characteristics and associated manufacturing documentation and other quality records, utilizing a range of inspection techniques and methods including visual, mechanical, automated, contact and non‑contact. This responsibility will be discharged under the authority delegated by quality. The role is onsite at one of our suppliers.

Job Responsibilities

• Exemplifying a safety‑first mind‑set and ensuring that GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards are followed.
• Perform inspection processes as described by product work instructions and/or other directions.
• Perform first‑article inspections in line with site operating policies, procedures and work instructions.
• Execute customer and regulatory delegated inspection processes as authorized by those parties. Maintain those delegated authorities once granted.
• Support root‑cause analysis, preventive and corrective action to reduce or eliminate non‑conformances.
• Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co‑workers.
• Support continuous improvement of production and inspection processes by implementing Lean initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in inspection methods and techniques and following relevant work instructions.
• 1+ years of experience with AS9100 series requirements.
• 1+ years of experience working with Lean processes and practices.
• Must be able to lift heavy items.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with GKN or similar aerospace entities.
• Experience in an aerospace operating environment.
• Apprenticeship, associate’s degree in a technical subject or equivalent.
• Awareness of AS9100 series requirements.
• Previous delegated product acceptance authority granted by an aerospace OEM or regulatory authority.
• Familiarity with 3D model‑based engineering.
