Responsibilities

• Maintain safety as the number one priority, following all safety procedures and PPE.

• Perform daily inspections of utility poles across rural, suburban and metro areas in MO/IL.
• Collect inspection data using a handheld device and upload data daily.

• Communicate professionally with local residents to explain inspections and obtain access.
• Respect and protect customer property, avoiding damage to landscaping or structures.

Position Overview

The Utility Inspector is responsible for performing detailed inspections of underground and above-ground utility infrastructure to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and industry standards. This position requires regular travel, professional interaction with property owners, and the ability to work in various outdoor environments and weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain safety as the number one priority , following all safety procedures, wearing required PPE, and ensuring safe practices while navigating various terrains and environments.
• Prioritize high-quality work , ensuring all inspections, data collection, and reporting meet the accuracy and performance standards expected by the company and the customer.
• Perform daily inspections of utility poles , continuously moving from pole to pole across diverse terrains, including rural, suburban, and metropolitan areas throughout Missouri and Illinois.
• Collect inspection data using a customer-provided handheld device , accurately capturing pole conditions and problems, and uploading all data at the end of each workday.
• Identify deficiencies, hazards, code violations, or noncompliant work , and promptly report all issues to project management for corrective action.
• Communicate professionally with local residents , explaining the purpose of inspections and obtaining access to utility poles located on or near private property.
• Respect and protect customer property , ensuring landscaping, structures, and personal privacy are not disturbed during inspection activities.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Positions require physical labor and exposure to the elements.
• Tasks may include lifting 50 lbs. or more, bending, squatting, digging, pulling, and walking on various terrains (e.g., backyards, woods, hills, streets) in various weather conditions (e.g., cold, heat, rain). Candidates must have the ability to kneel, crouch, bend, and use tools weighing up to 30 lbs. at the base of a utility pole during inspections.

Professional Conduct & Communication

• Maintain professional appearance and communication with coworkers, customers, property owners, and clients.
• Ensure worksites and company vehicles are kept clean and organized.
• Adhere strictly to company dress code: long pants, sleeved shirts, clean condition, and no inappropriate images or wording.

Pre-Employment Requirements

• All prospective employees must pass a drug screen and background check. An MVR is required for any employee that drives a company vehicle.
• Post-accident and random drug testing will also be conducted.
• Valid Driver's License.

Travel and Lodging

• All positions require travel. Most assignments are Monday through Thursday, but schedules may vary with weather, job location, job schedule, etc.
• Stay in company provided lodging when required, which may include shared accommodations.
• Maintain reliable personal transportation to the show up location each week.
• Use company provided transportation or assigned company vehicle to travel between job sites.
