Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Ogden is seeking a Fire Alarm Inspector to perform building inspections, test Fire alarm panels and devices, and record results for reports and certifications. You will support the Lead Inspector and Inspection Manager, download data, and generate Fire Alarm Inspection Reports and Certificates.

Qualifications

  • College degree preferred; however, a High School diploma or equivalent is acceptable with acceptable experience.
  • Stay current with NFPA standards for the inspection and testing of fire protection systems; obtain NICET certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform building fire alarm inspections including testing devices and recording results.
  • Assist Lead Inspector and Inspection Manager in collecting data and generating paperwork (Fire Alarm Inspection Reports, Quick Reports, and Inspection Certificates).
  • Test building Fire alarm control panels and devices; enter test results into Palm handheld device.
  • Download inspection data and generate completed Fire Alarm Inspection Reports.
  • Participate in monthly team meetings; perform other duties as assigned.

Duties include assisting both the Lead Inspector and/or Inspection Manager in collecting data and generating any necessary paperwork (Fire Alarm Inspection Reports, Quick Reports, and Inspection Certificates).Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Ensure that all inspections are completed on a timely basis and that inspections are done accurately and thoroughly.Testing of all building Fire alarm control panels, devices, and functions of the fire alarm system and entering the test results into the Palm handheld device.Upon completion of an inspection download the information and generate a completed Fire Alarm Inspection Report.Participate in monthly team meetings.Perform other duties assigned by management.Education/Qualification:College Degree is preferred; however, a High School diploma or equivalent is acceptable with acceptable experience.Study and learn NFPA standards for the inspection and testing of fire protection systems. Stay current with code requirements, and industry changes, and obtain NICET certificationsMust demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and be customer service oriented.Must be able and willing to work within a team environment.Fire Alarm experience is preferred but not required.Proficiency in using test equipment including sensitivity test equipment, multi-meters, battery analyzers, sound level meters, and communicating devices.Need good networking PC skills including use of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and use of Palm unit operating systems.Must be punctual. Being on time is critical due to the need to perform sound tests prior to building tenant arrivals.Ability to be on the phone and computer consistently throughout the day.Other Duties:Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.Performs other duties as assigned.Physical Requirements:Industrial, Commercial, & Residential building environment with moderate to high noise levels, and comfort with working at heights.Mostly a physically demanding role.
