Job summary

RTX (Raytheon) seeks a quality inspection professional to inspect incoming materials, in-process and final products, and perform first article inspections. You will read blueprints, use calipers and other measuring devices, and ensure conformance to engineering requirements.

The role requires 1 year of relevant experience, HS diploma or GED, and familiarity with SAP and Teamcenter. Occasional weekend/holiday support may be required.

  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. GED) or vocational/technical education with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
  • Experience reading blueprints
  • Experience with calipers

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming material and perform receiving, in-process, final inspection & 1st article approval of manufactured hardware and components
  • Read, interpret and apply quality policies, procedures, blueprints and other documentation
  • Operate computer systems to perform inspection tasks (e.g., SAP/Teamcenter integration)
  • Identify non-conforming products, raise notifications, quarantine non-conforming items and disposition when approved
  • Conduct PMR and ensure accurate documentation and files management
  • Provide occasional weekend/holiday support to meet customer needs

Uses predetermined methods, operations, setups, prescribed specifications to inspect arriving, in process, and completed products for conformance to engineering requirements and in accordance with quality specifications. Uses a variety of measuring devices, testing equipment, computer systems, and statistical control processes to perform in process, final bench and product feature inspections and inspection tasks. Inspects actual products on the floor and on-line. Performs First Article Inspections (FAI) and conformity inspections. Raises notifications of non-conformance, quarantines non-conforming product and, when approved to do so, provides disposition. Oversight and inspection of parts, materials and processes.

What You Will Do:
  • Inspection and transactions of incoming material
  • Inspects a variety of electronic units using measuring/inspection instruments (e.g. micrometers, gauges and calipers) with proper inspection techniques.
  • Reads, interprets and utilizes Quality policies, procedures, blueprints and other documentation.
  • Performs receiving, in-process, final inspection & 1st article approval of manufactured, assembled, and tested hardware and components.
  • Operates computer systems to perform inspection tasks (e.g. Via Search, JD Edwards, One World, Engineering Information System, labor charging).
  • Verifies all work order documentation for accuracy and completeness. Administers visual and physical inspections of units and subassemblies. Completes unit shakedowns (when required) to check for foreign objects, rattles and loose internal hardware.
  • Responsible for First Article Inspections and completes related documentation. Performs administrative tasks associated with files management.
  • Conducts Preliminary Material Reviews (PMR) as needed.
  • 1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
Work Environment:
  • You may occasionally need to provide weekend and holiday support to meet customer needs.
  • In your role, you will be exposed to: Products of various weights and sizes
  • Equipment with moving parts
  • Chemicals that may emit fumes
  • To minimize safety risk to you and product, you must wear static-control and personal protective equipment.
Physical Demands
  • Due to the nature of our work, you will need to be able to perform the following functions, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Distinguishing colors and meeting vision requirements
  • Bending, stooping, reaching, turning as needed to place units in test stands, pick up totes, place units on rack, etc.
  • Using hands for extended periods of time to perform testing and troubleshooting tasks (e.g. grasping, holding, picking, placing, twisting, fine manipulation)
  • Must be able to stand for 2 hour increments without an opportunity to sit
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds
  • Transporting product with or without product carts
What You Will Learn

  • Collaborate with OEM services officers for final inspection service processes.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/ technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 years of relevant experience
  • SAP and learn Team Center
  • Experience with calipers
  • Experience with reading blueprints
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with electronic assembly/inspection in the aerospace industry, preferably 1-2 years of experience
  • Experience providing feedback to teammates regarding processes
  • Experience with SAP
