Job summary

Howmet Aerospace is seeking Inspectors / FPI Trainees at our Winsted, CT facility. You will perform receiving, in-process, and final visual inspections on aerospace components, verifying materials against orders and specs, and documenting quality data.

The role offers hands-on training in fluorescence penetrant inspection (FPI), with a starting rate of $20.00/hour plus shift differentials. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible external hires and a comprehensive benefits package is

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges is preferred.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving, in-process, and final visual inspections on aerospace components.
  • Verify materials and parts match work orders and engineering specifications.
  • Inspect incoming shipments and confirm accuracy against purchase orders and documentation.
  • Use precision measuring tools and visual inspection techniques to verify product quality.
  • Identify non-conforming materials and communicate findings to appropriate personnel.
  • Complete inspection reports, quality records, and production documentation accurately.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve quality concerns.
  • Support continuous improvement, safety, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and quality standards.

Howmet Aerospace is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Inspectors / FPI Trainees at our Winsted, CT facility. As an Inspector/FPI Trainee, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of precision aerospace components. Your attention to detail helps ensure only products meeting the highest quality standards reach our customers.

  • Perform receiving, in-process, and final visual inspections on aerospace components.
  • Verify materials and parts match work orders and engineering specifications.
  • Inspect incoming shipments and confirm accuracy against purchase orders and documentation.
  • Use precision measuring tools and visual inspection techniques to verify product quality.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Starting Pay: $20.00/hour
  • Shift Differentials:
    • 2nd Shift: +$2.00/hour
    • 3rd Shift: +$3.00/hour
  • Training may be completed on 1st Shift for several months, if needed.
  • $3,000 Sign-On Bonus for eligible external hires

Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
Skills

  • Basic math skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges is preferred.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience
  • Minimum of one year of related manufacturing or inspection experience preferred.
  • Aerospace inspection experience is a plus but not required.
  • Candidates interested in learning Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) are encouraged to apply.
