Overview
We are seeking an Inspection Engineer Diver for our Indianapolis office. SJCA is a leading civil engineering firm specializing in transportation design; we provide professional infrastructure design services to state, municipal, and private sector clients.
Responsibilities
- Perform bridge, small structure, and other types of inspections and complete any associated reports and load ratings.
- Perform hand and software-supported bridge analysis and design computations.
- Visit project sites locally and throughout Indiana and other Midwest locations to perform bridge and small structure inspections, verify existing conditions during design, provide construction support engineering, and meet with clients.
- Coordinate with other disciplines within the transportation department, including but not limited to survey, roadway, utility coordination, drainage, planning, and environmental.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree
- Civil Professional Engineer (PE) license in any state
- 5 or more years of experience in inspection and/or engineering
- ADCI Air Diving Supervisor Certification (or equivalent demonstrated and verifiable commercial diving experience)
- Capable of meeting with clients in person
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- A valid driver’s license is required
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Qualified Team Leader – Bridge Inspector’s Reference Manual (FHWA NHI 12-049) Section 1.2.3
- Qualified Diver-Inspector – Bridge Inspector’s Reference Manual (FHWA NHI 12-049) Section 13.3.4
- Bridge Inspection Team Leader Certification in any state, Indiana preferred.
- ADCI Commercial Diver or Commercial Surface Supply Air Diver Certification (or equivalent)
