Job summary

Zscaler, Inc. is seeking an Insider Risk Security Engineer to join our Enterprise Security team. This remote role (US) reports to the Senior Architect and drives detection engineering, playbooks, and investigations with strong ownership and cross‑functional collaboration.

You will refine playbooks, mentor analysts, manage end‑to‑end investigations using SIEM/XDR/UEBA tools, and coordinate with HR, Legal, and executives to document evidence and outcomes with integrity.

Role

We are looking for an Insider Risk Security Engineer to join our team. This is a Remote (United States) role, reporting to the Senior Architect in the Enterprise Security Dept department. Serving as a senior contributor on the Insider Risk program within Enterprise Security, you will take operational direction from the Insider Risk Team Lead while operating with high ownership to refine playbooks, lead detection engineering, mentor junior analysts, and represent the team with HR, Legal, and executive stakeholders.

What you’ll do (Role Expectations)

• Sharpen the Insider Risk Program’s detection capabilities by refining rules to reduce noise, close coverage gaps, and surface high-fidelity alerts in adequate time
• Perform endpoint and user activity investigations using EDR/XDR, UEBA, and SIEM tools, managing cases end-to-end to create factual timelines
• Drive the development and iteration of insider Risk investigation playbooks, translating case patterns and lessons learned into scalable, defensible processes
• Serve as a key contact for HR, Legal, business leaders and other stakeholders on active investigations, preparing clear evidentiary case documentation

What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

• Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience leveraging, securing, or positioning AI-driven solutions to optimize outcomes within your functional domain
• Minimum 6+ years of experience in insider risk, data protection, fraud investigation, or security operations, with a proven track record in senior investigative roles, process ownership, and the design of detection frameworks and playbooks
• Experience managing and dispositioning alerts within a SIEM or SOAR
• Strong communication skills with proven ability to engage cross‑functionally with HR, Legal, business leaders, and other stakeholders while maintaining discretion and sound judgment

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

• Hands‑on experience with Zscaler's product portfolio (CyberRisk Protection, Data Protection, Zero Trust Networking) in a large‑scale enterprise environment
• Experience working with product development teams to implement security use cases
• Relevant certifications (e.g., GCFA, GCFE) or equivalent forensics credentials; familiarity with industry frameworks (CERT, NIST, NSA)

Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The base salary range listed for this full‑time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.

Base Pay Range

$134,000 - $167,500 USD
