Kirchner Building Centers is seeking an Inside Sales Representative for a part-time role in Paxton, IL. You will help customers select materials, provide quotes, and process orders to ensure a smooth, high-quality shopping experience.

The role emphasizes product knowledge, clear communication, accuracy in paperwork, and teamwork within the sales group. Experience in building materials is preferred, with potential overtime during peak seasons.

Responsibilities

• Acknowledge customers when they walk in the store.
• Answer questions about products accurately.
• Process orders and complete special-order paperwork.
• Order or purchase stock items and special-order material.
• Be familiar with stock and special-order products.
• Figure material lists and pricing on customer requests.
• Perform store maintenance and cleaning duties.
• Process computer sales and charges efficiently and professionally.
• Assist customers needing materials from the yard when needed.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by Department Head, Manager, or Ownership.

Position Summary

The Inside Sales Representative will serve as a key point of contact for customers — helping them select materials, providing quotes, processing orders, and ensuring an exceptional experience from start to finish. This role combines product knowledge, communication skills, and attention to detail to support our customers and our sales team.

This is a part-time position, located in Paxton, IL.

Requirements

• Acknowledge customers when they walk in the store.
• Accurately answering questions a customer may have about product.
• Order product for customers if needed, and complete special-order paperwork for product.
• Order/purchase stock items or special-order material.
• Be familiar with both stock product and special-order product.
• Must be able to figure material list and pricing on estimates per customer's request.
• Perform store maintenance and cleaning. (Sweep, dust, mop, take out trash, etc.)
• Efficiently and professionally process computer sales and charges.
• Assisting customers who require materials from the yard, when called upon.
• Other duties as assigned by Department Head, Manager, and/or Ownership.

Schedule:

• Hours of Operation: 7:00am - 5:00pm (working hours may vary by location / season)
• Rotating Saturday mornings; Closed Sunday
• Part Time Hours (less than 32 per week)

Experience:

• Customer Service: 3 years (Preferred)
• Building materials: 2 years (Preferred)

Language:

• English (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Preferred)
