Job summary

Airgas, Inc. is seeking an Inside Sales Associate/Back-up Driver to act as a Sales Associate for the retail store, selling products to businesses and industrial customers.

The role includes soliciting sales, coordinating deliveries, assisting customers with loading cylinders, and maintaining paperwork. You will also support inventory, handle accounts receivable, and occasionally drive deliveries as a backup driver.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of Customer Service or Sales experience.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Must possess a Class A or B CDL with HAZMAT, or ability to get appropriate license and endorsements within 30 days.
• Industry experience or related product knowledge and handling compressed gases preferred.
• Computer experience or basic knowledge in a computer order entry system.

Responsibilities

• Sell industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding supplies and related equipment.
• Solicit sales from new and existing customers and manage related paperwork.
• Coordinate cylinder and hardgoods deliveries; maintain showroom displays.
• Assist customers with loading/unloading cylinders and provide guidance on equipment use.
• Foster strong customer relations and provide cost/ordering/delivery information.
• Monitor and maintain hardgoods and cylinder levels to minimize emergencies.
• Manage accounts receivable and discuss past-due accounts; collect payments.
• Ensure accurate paperwork including coding, costing and pricing.
• Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to safety procedures.
• Periodically deliver products to various gas customers; act as backup driver.
• Operate equipment like forklifts as required; support inventory management.

Qualifications and Competencies

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 1+ years of Customer Service or Sales experience
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must possess a Class A or B CDL with HAZMAT, or ability to get appropriate license and endorsements within 30 days.
• Industry experience or related product knowledge as well as experience handling compressed gasses preferred
• Computer experience or basic knowledge in computer order entry system.

Physical Requirements

• Capable of routinely lifting 25‑75 lbs. and occasionally lifting over 100 lbs. Also required to push and pull liquid containers weighing up to 1000 pounds.
• While on deliveries, the employee will regularly stand, walk, and sit. They will use their hands for deliveries, involving handling and feeling items. Additionally, they will reach, talk, and hear while interacting with customers, and be alert to the smell of leaking gas from cylinders.
• Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and repetitive motions are integral.
• Occasionally, the employee will engage in activities like climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and fine motor tasks such as tightening ratchet binders.
• This role requires specific visual capabilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
