Job summary

HTI - Human Technologies, Inc. in Goose Creek, SC, seeks an Inside Machinist for naval shipbuilding. Starting pay is $80,000+ per year with overtime; relocation assistance is available. Travel 10–25%; train-the-trainer location at Newport News, VA for 2–3 months.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years machining experience, or an apprenticeship/Associates degree with 3+ years. Strong CNC experience and ability to read blueprints are essential.

• Or completion of an apprenticeship or Associate’s Degree with 3+ years machining experience.
• Experience in large-scale industrial machining environments.
• Strong CNC machining experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Experience holding tight tolerances on precision components.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and manual lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers and grinders.
• Machine metal parts and assemblies to exact tolerances and specifications.
• Interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to determine setup and sequence.
• Determine cuts, tooling, feeds, and speeds.
• Perform shop math and layout work including measuring and marking.
• Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
• Fit and assemble precision parts into mechanical equipment.
• Modify NC programs as needed.
• Monitor and verify quality using SPC and other procedures.
• Adhere to safety, quality, and manufacturing standards.

What You Need

• High School diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of additional education and/or related machining experience
  OR

• Completion of a formal apprenticeship or Associate’s Degree in a related discipline with 3+ years of machining experience

• Experience in mid- to large-scale industrial machining environments (heavy manufacturing, shipbuilding, power generation, aerospace, or similar)

• Strong CNC machining experience

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering specifications

• Experience holding tight tolerances on precision components

What You Will Do

• Set up and operate a variety of machine tools including CNC and manual lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders

• Machine metal parts, tools, mechanisms, and assemblies to exacting tolerances and specifications

• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering drawings to determine machining sequence and setup

• Determine number of cuts required, tooling selection, feeds, and speeds

• Perform shop math and layout work including measuring, marking, and scribing

• Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, indicators)

• Fit and assemble precision parts into mechanical equipment

• Modify numerically controlled (NC) programs as needed

• Monitor and verify quality using statistical process control and other quality procedures

• Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and manufacturing standards
