Job summary

Timken Company in Lebanon, NH is seeking an Inspector to join our manufacturing team. You will perform in-process and bench inspections of rings and related components, ensuring dimensional accuracy and compliance with work instructions on the Production floor.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, strong math skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to read prints and follow complex procedures.

Qualifications

  • Requires High School Diploma or GED.
  • Strong shop math and the ability to learn new processes and gauges.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work in a team.
  • Experience reading prints and in-process work instructions preferred.
  • Experience with metrology equipment and SAP preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process and bench inspections on the Manufacturing Floor and Receiving Inspection.
  • Set up gauging equipment and follow sampling plans and procedure sheets.
  • Record inspection data on designated forms and maintain records.
  • Identify and report any improper operation, faulty equipment, or defective material.
  • Move materials as needed and assist with training of new employees.

Purpose & Scope

The primary function of an Inspector is to carry out inspections related to the production of Inner/Outer Rings, Rolling Elements, Retainers, and Outsourced Supplied Rings. Review all paper documents to ensure internal requirements are met. Safely, correctly and efficiently setup and operate equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures and work instructions.

Core Function
  • Perform a variety of in-process inspections and bench inspections on the Manufacturing Floor, RLR Sort Room, Retainer Inspection, and Receiving Inspection to ensure dimensional check are within specifications and all paperwork is accurate and precise.
  • Perform simple set-ups of gauging equipment. Follow established statistical sample plan and refer to process sheets, parts drawings, spec. sheets and specifications called out by Quality Assurance and Product Engineering. Must be capable of following inspection procedures called out by Quality Assurance and proper use of equipment used in routine product inspection. Inspection operations are controlled under separate I.P, EDS, ECS and EPS procedures.
  • Inspection work sheets and forms are to be identified by a numerical inspection stamp for each inspector that identifies each process for which he/she has been approved.
  • Record appropriate inspection data on designated forms.
  • Maintain necessary records. Move materials in the performance of duties or as directed. Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervisor. Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean an orderly condition. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations
  • Assist in training employee(s) as required.
General Qualifications & Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Excellent shop math competency and the ability to quickly learn new processes, procedures, and machine/gauges
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • The ability to work as part of a team to meet company and departmental goals
  • Previous experience in manufacturing environment preferred
  • The ability to read and interpret prints and in-process work instruction preferred
  • Previous experience with metrology equipment (gauges used for dimensional inspection) preferred
  • Previous experience with SAP preferred but not required
Physical Requirements
  • Use of hands, legs, both near/far vision, and hearing test. Must be able to climb ladders and lift up to 30 pounds. Requires extensive periods of walking and standing.
